Suthep Threatens Officials who Leak Classified Documents

Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban Thursday threatened criminal and disciplinary action against state officials who leak classified information after Foreign Ministry's classified information had been leaked to the Opposition.
National Security Council secretary-general Thawil Pliansri said the National Security Keeping Committee meeting chaired by Suthep resolved to set out regulations on keeping state information confidential by not having to comply with the Information Disclosure Act and Computer Act.
The meeting decided that the state agency that is responsible can take both disciplinary and criminal legal action against state officials who leak classified information.
The meeting also resolved that security agencies provide training for other agencies such as National Intelligence Agency, Special Branch Bureau, and National Security Keeping Centre to boost awareness of state officials in keeping state information confidential and trian them on how to handle and prevent leak of classified information.
